The 2021 Social Emotional Learning Supports Symposium will provide a variety of climate, culture, social-emotional, and behavioral strategies for teachers, administrators, parents, counselors, and community service providers to use with children birth-21. Research shows social-emotional learning and well-being increase academic achievement at all levels of instruction, and are just as critical for adults as they are students.

This 2-day event will feature Keynote Speakers: 1) Dr. Marc Brackett, author of "Permission to Feel'' and 2) Dr. Jen Ulie-Wells, Please Pass the Love. Watch for updates on breakout sessions and the full agenda for further details. You won't want to miss this chance to reboot and recharge for the upcoming school year!

The $50 registration fee includes lunch on both days.

NEW Transition Team Clickable Classroom

Our great GHAEA transition team (Mary McLaren, Samantha Wilson, Amy Liddell, Rebecca Hamilton, Nancy Lindgren) presented recently at the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Work-Based Learning Conference. They did a great job of presenting and sharing with colleagues not only in Iowa but from around the country. The team was sharing a collection of transition resources that they had compiled and created in a clickable classroom format. This excellent resource now lives on our Green Hills AEA website and provides resources in the categories of assessments, curriculum/instruction, family/educator resources, resource linkages, and social-emotional learning. You can click here to see the classroom directly, and also know that it is linked to the GHAEA transition page. If you work with transition-aged students, ages 13 and up, please check out this classroom and add it to your toolbox!

Professional Learning COVID-19 Update

Effective immediately, our professional learning opportunities will resume full capacity registration and use of the agency’s conference rooms. GHAEA encourages you to take measures you believe best to protect yourself and those with whom you come in contact from the spread of COVID-19.

We will continue to clean all offices regularly, and we will reassess the need for routine, deep-cleaning efforts on June 30.

We will continue to update and track COVID-19 data for each county through June 30, as we will want to keep an eye on a possible resurgence of cases. If a county were to move into RED/RED status, we would verify with CDC on recommendations for office status at that time.
