Welcome to Scout, the AEA's New Online Portal

I would like to take a minute to introduce you to a new online tool which will change the way students and educators find high-quality digital information…. AEA Scout!

AEA Scout is a new online portal that provides access to many of the quality digital resources currently provided by Iowa’s AEAs. Initially, 6th-12th grade students will benefit from a one-stop-shop for their research needs, and teachers can rest easy knowing their students are searching the quality content they’ve come to know and trust.

AEA's Website for Children's Mental Health Supports Survey

Iowa's AEAs are developing a website to support mental health for Iowa children. This will be a one-stop shop for students, educators, caregivers, families, and community partners to get in contact with mental health resources.
We need your help in identifying the needs of Iowans that can be addressed through this online website. Please take a moment to complete this survey by Tuesday, November 19th.

Suicide Risk Assessment

This workshop is designed for social workers, counselors, special education representatives, school-based interventionists, nurses, or anyone who would be involved in district-level suicide assessment. Participants will learn best practices in school suicide risk assessment procedures.
There is only one date left to attend, so grab your district team and register today!

Veteran's Community Project Led by Stanton 4th Graders

Last year students in Stanton Elementary's 4th grade class watched a CNN10 episode about a community project to build tiny homes for homeless veterans in Kansas City. The students decided to make Veteran's Day cards to send.

This year, the 4th graders wanted to do more. After brainstorming ways they could help and decided to collect items to donate. They connected with the office manager to ask what items were needed most. She shared that most veterans that live in the homes take the bus to work, appointments, etc. and winter can be very tough for them. Things like chapstick, hand and feet warmers, hats, and gloves would go a long way.

The students got their community involved by creating and distributing posters, sending emails to parents, and talking with the elementary students about donating items.
