FREE Social Emotional Curriculum and Training with Sanford Harmony

Description: This free workshop is designed to train Pre-K–6th grade school principals, administrators, counselors, teachers, social workers, and educational support staff in the successful incorporation and integration of social and emotional learning (SEL) in your classrooms.


Participants will:
1.  Gain a better understanding of how to meet the social and emotional learning needs of your students.
2.  Get trained on five core SEL competencies aligned to the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), including: diversity and inclusion, empathy and critical thinking, communication, problem solving, and peer relationships.
3.  Learn why classrooms that have adopted SEL programs have seen a 13% improvement in academic performance.
4.  Learn more about Sanford Harmony, the fastest growing SEL program in the U.S. 

Presenter: Don Ortman is a former Griswold Elementary Teacher and was named an AK-SAR-BEN Outstanding Teacher. Don left Griswold to become the elementary principal in Rock Valley, Iowa where he was honored as Iowa’s Elementary Principal of the Year, Iowa’s Character Counts Administrator of the Year, and Iowa Reading Administrator of the Year. Don has a passion for helping children and social emotional learning. He now works as an Ambassador for Philanthropist T. Denny Sanford as the “Oprah” of Social Emotional Learning training and giving away at no cost the CASEL Select program Sanford Harmony.
